The Asociación de Ejecutivos de Ventas y Mercadeo de Puerto Rico (SME) has design a public service campaign that with help motovate university students to finihs their studies.
"IN an effort to send a message that promotes a better quality of life in Puerto Rico, we identified that school dropouts as one of the major problems that society has now a days. It is a problem that has many ramifications and from our point of view as a professional organization, it affect the evolution and development of businesses and the islands economy", stated Andrés Claudio, Ex-Presidente of the SME and campaign director.
Some of the reasons for the increased university drop-out rate are:
- the need to work
- family situations
- pregnancy and limiting factors
- peer pressure
- family tradition of not having higher education
"As university students finihs their studies, more professionals will be better prepared for the workforce. With a situation like this, many are affected: the individual students lack of opportunity, lower wages, companies have less options to choose from and the island suffers because of less educated and prepared people", stated Claudio.
"With the theme ' No hay excusa para dejar de estudiar', we developed a campaign about two parallel stories with different endings. The thematic is about choices the young people make. In the creative we make the young people responsible for their decision and consequences without reprimands, just reality", explained Lili Madera, Creative Director at ERC Integrated Communications, the agency that worked pro-bono on this effort in its totality.
"At the SME we feel proud to bring a motivational message to our youth that need it some much. This is the first time that we get involved in an effort of this type and I am sure that it will open doors for us to continue to develop projects that help promote a better quality of life in Puerto Rico", stated Sandra Carrión, President of SME Puerto Rico.
